The Health component consists of screenings that are required by Head Start to ensure that all children are developing appropriately. If anything is found where a child may need further assistance it is important that we identify these needs immediately, that way the child can learn to the best of their ability with the provided assistance which is needed. Anytime an initial screening is completed and it is found further follow-up is required follow-up forms will be given to parents/guardians that way they can get the appropriate information needed for Head Start records. Once all follow-ups are complete your child will not be required to be screened again until the next year. It is important that parents learn when exams and screenings need to be done for their child. That way when a child exits Head Start they are still advocates on behalf of their children’s medical needs.
